About Laura

Laura Mitchell is an experienced creative professional currently working as a Freelance Illustrator and Designer while also managing her stationery business, Merimoi Press. Before becoming self-employed, Laura worked for several years within the publishing industry designing and art directing both fiction and nonfiction children’s titles, ranging from PreK–YA. Prior to working in publishing, Laura was an Art Consultant and Gallery Director at a Contemporary Art Gallery downtown Minneapolis. Laura’s goal is to enhance the community through her work and the work of her collaborators–wherever that lands her. On the rare occasion Laura isn’t illustrating, designing or hanging art, she can be found watching  an episode of Bluey while snuggling with her 3.5 year-old and 1 year-old daughters, 160 lb. Great Dane, Georgie, and husband (if there is any room left on the couch).
